W.L. (Bill) Simmons Antique Tractor Club Pull Rules

4 MPH Classes

The intent of the antique tractor pull is to provide entertaining and friendly competition among antique farm tractor owners.

"Common Sense Rules"

1.Younger contestants participating I tractor pulls will be required to hook to the sled for a trial pull prior to the start of pull.If these individuals cannot operate the tractor to opull standards set by the pull committee they will not be allowed to participate in the class.Safety of the individual and tractor are the key factors due to insurance regulations.All contestants under the age of 16 must have a consent form signed by their parent or legal guardian to participate in each pull.

2.Tractors need to be registered prior to the event.Tractors will be weighed and lined up before each class.Tractors can be weighed at any time BUT only the weight prior to the pull will be accepted.

3.Only one person is to be on a tractor at any time, no riders.

4.Eligible tractors:

A. Because of insurance requirements, all tractors will look original or be restored to original stock conditions.M & W kits, power packs and power blocks will be allowed in rebuilding or restoring tractors.

B. Definition of original stock condition:This means engine is original or is a natural progression replacement restored to factory specifications.No homemade manifolds, headers, engine shields, aluminum manifolds or aluminum frame parts allowed.Only manufacturers original replacement parts are allowed.

C.No tractors newer than 1959 will be pulled.

D. 4 mph class tractors may pull in the 6 mph class if the club is using the pull to increase funds.Tractors in this class will be required to have wheelie bars and a kill switch( wheelie bars must meet NATPA specifications).

E.Tractors later converted to rubber tires will be allowed.Steel wheel tractors will pull at the end of their class.

F.No splitting of rims to accommodate oversize tires will be allowed.Tire size may be increased one size over original as indicated by the manufacturer of the tractor.Tire size of 14.9 can go to a 15.5 Front tire size can be one rim size and one tire size smaller than the original Example: 6:00-16=5:00-15.

G. No cut tires will be allowed.

H. No increasing of wheel diameter from original factory size.

I. No alcohol fuel mixture will be allowed.Racing fuel such as CAM II or Turbo Blue will be allowed.Maximum specific gravity for gas will be .750. Your fuel may be checked at any time.If any extra checks are to be made on a tractor the operator and two (2) committee members will be present.

5. Drawbar height cannot exceed 20 inches and cannot be closer than 18 inches from center of the rear axle to the back of the hitch hole.Drawbars must be securely fastened.No vertical movement is allowed.Purchased, forged twisted clevises are allowed.No support can exceed the top of the axle or original point of hook.A clevis or "D" pull ring must have a minimum 2 3/4" diameter opening. Clevis must have a top support.

6.Weighted tractors:Wheel weights must be permanently mounted.Additional and subtraction of weights will not be allowed after weigh-in.Suitcase weights will be allowed on the front and back of the tractor.Older tractors weights of any brand will be allowed, however, weights must be mounted neatly against front of the tractor. No rear weights are to be bolted to the front of the tractor.All weights must be fastened securely and weight brackets must be  

securely and weight brackets must be neat in appearance.

7.The first puller of each class will have the option of pulling 3rd or last.You will need to let the flagman know before you un-hook from the sled.If you decided to re-pull then your distance from the second pull will be recorded.

8.Each puller will be allowed to repull as long as his first pull does not exceed 50 feet.

9.The track flagman has the right to stop any pull if safely becomes a factor.

10.Anyone operating a tractor while under the influence of intoxicants will be automatically disqualified.

11.The puller will not be allowed to change gears but will be able to activate a torque amplifier during competition in the 4 mph class.

12.Any foul language directed toward any track official will mean immediate disqualification.

13.The puller will be disqualified if any tractor wheel touches a track boundary line.

14.If track judge feels your front end is too high a flag or whistle blowing will stop you.If the tractor is equipped with wheelie bars the rule does not apply.

15.If track judge thinks you are showing excessive RPM, he will ask you to pull off the track after your pull to be checked.There will be 300 RPMs allowed over manufacturer's specifications.All tractors must have a positive throttle stop with a working governor.

16.There will be a 1% allowance over your weight limit.

17.If you are not ready to pull in order, you will pull last in your class.

18.Classes will be: 1940 and older; 1941 thru 1954 is class "A",1955 thru 1959 is class "B" Tractors can only pull one speed per weight class. (This may change if club sponsoring pull desires so.) Third sounding of speed alarm means the puller will be disqualified.

CLASSES 1959 AND OLDER

1. 0-2500 pounds6. 4501-5000 pounds

2. 2501-3000 pounds7. 5001-6000 pounds

3. 3001-3500 pounds8.6001-7000 pounds4. 3501-4000 pounds9. 7001-8000 pounds

5. 4001– 4500 pounds10. 8001-9000 pounds

C.Aluminum frame parts, headers, pressed steel wheels or any after market parts made available to those tractors will be allowed.Also, no lengthening of frame or sheet metal added to tractor will be allowed.Tractors in this class will be required to have wheelie bars and a kill switch.(wheelie bars must meet NATPA specifications).

D.No tractors newer than 1959 will be pulled.

E. Tractors later converted to rubber tires will be allowed.Steel wheel tractors will pull at the end of each class.

F. No splitting of rims to accommodate oversize tires will be allowed.

G.Tractors in the 6MPH class will be allowed to run up to 38" wheels.

H. Tire sizes for the 2500, 3000, and 3500 lb. 6-mph classes will be limited to a 170 sq. in max "foot print" which is a 13.6 x 38, or a 14.9 x 28 tire size.

I. Tire sizes for the 4000,4500 and 5000 lb 6-mph classes will be limited to a 210 sq. In. max "foot print" which is a 14.9 x 38, 15.5 x 38, or 16.9 x 28 tire size.

J. Tire sizes for the 6000 and 7000 6-mph classes will be limited to a 300 sq in. "foot print" which is 16.9 x 38, 18.4 x 28, 18.4 x 34 tire size.

K. Tire sizes for the 8000 and 9000 6-mph classes will be limited to a 300 sq. in. max "foot print" which is a 18.4 x 38 tire size.

L. Tractor tires may be sharpened in any manner and the front edge may be "cut" to a sharp edge.

M. Front tires may be of any agriculture style. The minimum front tire size shall b e 12 inches in diameter.

N. No alcohol fuel mixture will be allowed.Racing fuel such as CAM II or Turbo Blue will be allowed.Maximum specific gravity for gas will by .750. Your fuel may be checked at any time.If any extra checks are to be made on a tractor the operator and two (2) committee members will be present.

Rear suitcase weights and belly bars are allowed.Front weights must be mounted as close to frame as possible.All weights must be fastened securely and weight brackets must be neat in appearance.

1. 0-2500 pounds                 6.4501-5000 pounds

2. 2501-3000 pounds          7.5001-6000 pounds

3. 3001-3500 pounds          8. 6001-7000 pounds

4. 3501-4000 pounds          9. 7001-8000 pounds

5. 4001-4500 pounds         10. 8001-9000 pounds
