Schedule: Entries in place – Tuesday, August 10, 2010; 8:00am – noon

Youth Dairy show – Thursday, August 12, 2010; 7:00pm.

Release Date & Time – Saturday, August 14, 2010; Noon.

RULES and REGULATIONS

1. Youth not over 19 as of Sept. 30, 2010, may participate.   It is not necessary to own the animal shown.

2. Grade and registered animals of any breed may be shown.    DHIA records or registration papers required as proof of birth date for each animal.

3. No cattle shall be exhibited unless they are accompanied by an approved health certificate, signed within 30 days of the show by a licensed veterinarian, showing that they are free from contagious or infectious diseases such as warts, ringworm and pink eye.Show Superintendent or designee will ask for these Tuesday August 10 during check-in.

4. All General Rules and Regulations of the County Fair will apply.

5. ENTRY FEE is $5.00/head/class

6. PREMIUM AWARDS: Class 5-61st- $20.00, 2nd - $18.00, 3rd - $15.00, 4th – $12, 5th - $9.00

Division I – Youth Dairy

Section A: Fitting and Showmanship

A $50.00 savings bond sponsored by Sherando Ruritan Club will be given to the Champion and Reserve Champion Showman.

Class 1 – Pee Wee Showmanship (Children under 7 years of age).  No Competition in this class.

Class 2 – Novice fitting and showing, exhibitors have never shown at Augusta County Fair (ages 7 - 12 as of 9/30/10).

Class 3 – Junior fitting and showing (ages 7 – 10 as of 9/30/10).

Class 4 – Intermediate fitting and showing (ages 11 – 14 as of 9/30/10).

Class 5 – Senior fitting and showing (ages 15 – 19 as of 9/30/10).

Section B: Type Classes

Class 6 – Junior Heifer Calf (born March 1 to April 30, 2010).

Class 7 – Intermediate Heifer Calf (born Dec. 1, 2008 to Feb. 28, 2010).

Class 8 – Senior Heifer Calf (born Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, 2009).

Class 9 – Summer Heifer Calf (born June 1 to Aug. 31, 2009).

Class 10 – Junior Yearling (born March 1 to May 31, 2008).

Class 11 – Intermediate Yearling (born Dec. 1, 2007 to Feb. 28, 2009).

Class 12 – Senior Yearling (born Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, 2008).

Class 13 – Dry Cow (any age).

Class 14 – 2 yr. old Cow (born Sept. 1, 2007 to Aug. 31, 2008).

Class 15 – 3 yr. old Cow (born Sept. 1, 2006 to Aug. 31, 2007).

Class 16 – 4 yr. old Cow (born Sept. 1, 2005 to Aug. 31, 2006).

Class 17 – Aged Cow (born before Sept. 1, 2005)

Section C – Fun Classes

Class 18 – Dairy Sportsmanship Award.

Criteria: To be voted on by the dairy youth exhibitors.Should consider: Positive attitude—Helpful to other exhibitors—Wins and/or loses gracefully - Works hard to present to the public his/her animals and exhibit in an attractive manner - Supports and participates in group activities.
